Trump was just promising to end the careers of congressmen who would not succumb to his spending spree. And Vivek and Musk are now villified for the crime of thinking high-skilled Indian Americans should not be thrown out of the country. The "libertarian" in the cabinet is Kennedy Jr reigning in an era of neo-prohibition. Republican party seems to be on a downward spiral of populism. There is no liberty down there, just authoritarianism. There is no hijacking populism for free markets. When nationalism is blended with libertarianism, it is nationalism which will prevail, while liberty will be reduced to a marketing prop. I think it is quite clear now that Musk and Vivek will be cosplaying as budgetary hawks, while the true problem: social security remains.
Couple things to note, taking part in the Paleo strategy does not mean supporting Trump. I don't support Trump and will continue to be critical of his moves, arguing that conservatives should shy away from his negative stuff while supporting the good things he does. The party is not going to be Trump forever, he ain't a spring chicken and his time in office is done after 2028. The vilifying of Elon and Vivek is of a vocal group on Twitter, which does not necessarily reflect the real world as polls have showcased support for legal immigration and getting high skilled workers into the country. On the empty promises, they are a road bumps for sure but that doesn't mean we should give up (especially if we are just going to call them socialists when they reach out to us and speak at our events), if that were the case then we should totally give up on every getting towards a libertarian society cause every strategy we deploy is going to have road bumps. Liberty is not inevitable, it is something you have to fight for and we have to fight for this or we are going to continue to be irrelevant. This strategy is something that will not occur overnight and is something that needs to be worked on. While Social Security is a major problem, it is not something that will be cut soon. Unfortunately, our best option with that endeavor is to point out how much unfunded liabilities we have in these social programs and then cut it. If we just go straight to cutting it, then the opposition are going to win and reinstate it and we will have accomplished nothing (we not only want libertarian ideas to get enacted but to stay that way).
